Exploring the Bible through the Sunday Scripture Readings
Sundays Mornings, 9-9:50 a.m. East Room
"There's nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God's way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us." (2 Timothy 3:15-17 from The Message by Eugene Peterson)
The Sunday Morning Bible Study is a lay led group that gathers each week to have a conversation about the Sunday scripture readings http://www.lectionarypage.net/ We explore what the texts may have meant in their historical context as well as what they mean for our lives today. In our exploration we use different translations, commentary, and a willingness to listen to the ‘piece of the truth’ offered by each participant.
All are welcome to join the conversation. We meet in the East Room from 9-9:50 a.m. Come after the 8 a.m. service or before the 10 a.m. service – either way it will enrich your hearing of the scripture!

Christian Pathways
Sundays Mornings, 9-9:50 a.m Quilt Room
Pathways began as a lay initiative by Patti Hill and Bob Hendrickson. After Patti and Bob left St. Paul’s the leadership eventually passed to David and Linda White. Often but incorrectly thought of as a book group, XPATH is more a feedback mechanism. The mission of XPATH includes helping parishioners to form deeper bonds with each other and with the non-Episcopalian members, who now constitute more than half the group. Pathways is heavily involved in networking, using social media, group activity, and fact-to-face conferences. We are inspired by the United Nations’ attempt to establish a global culture of philosophy as an environment conducive to peace.
Christian Pathways has embarked on a year long (2012) curriculum based on the poetry of Mary Oliver. Oliver is one of the most popular American poets writing today and is read by many who are not poets themselves. Her work has an unfinished or invitational quality that encourages thought, discussion, and action. Initially at least, we have taken as our guide Gisela Weingartz-Ullyatt, who has read Oliver's work through the lens of Buddhism. The current edition of XPATH has only been running a few weeks, and it is easy to catch up since we only do one short poem per week. All materials are on display in the Quilt/Conference Room. XPATH meets every Sunday at 9 AM, except Christmas and Easter.

Library Reading Group
Sunday Evenings, 7-8 p.m. White's Home
The library summer reading group has been extended into the spring of 2012. Over the summer of 2011 a few of us have been meeting on Sunday evenings, 7-8 pm White's house, 35 Luella St., to discuss The Warden by A.Trollope. We are planning to continue to meet (same time, same place)most Sundays from 11th Sept.to sometime in November,to discuss Barchester Towers. We would like to have a few more people in the group and wonder if you would like to join us? We understand not everyone will be able to make every Sunday. Hope you are all enjoying fall. In early 2012 we will be up to Dr. Thorne.

St. Paul's Parish Library
The main parish library is located on the stage in the parish hall. We have tried to put out those books expected to be of most interest to parishioners. We have left some shelves empty to indicate we are open to suggestions for additions. The Christian formation library is in the Quilt Room. This collection concentrates on books that have been read or referred to by parish groups. Thanks to many generous donations, these shelves are about full.
